Resist This! Painting on masking tape and finding my home style!

20121011-131512.jpg

Yesterday I started masking out my first ever resist painting. I’ve been seeing Pins go by on Pintrest about it and how simple and fun a way it is to decorate your home! I want art everywhere! I’ve been on a mission to make my home more to my personal taste and liking. I’ve been getting rid of things that I don’t really need or want, and particularly things that don’t reflect my personal style!

I love things on strings and old beat up suitcases! My friend, Juniper, gave me that suitcase many years ago and I always think of her when I see it. It has very real value to me!

As a result of my efforts it’s looking a lot more like what I want it to look like around here.I don’t know about you but my life gets cluttered up pretty quickly. With kids, a cat, and my hubby there always seems to be an endless supply of things to pick up!

This picture isn’t the best, but I wanted to show off my piles of mail and of course all the art and letters littering my space. It feels like home! And when your house feels like home, it makes it easier to feel inspired and create.

So what is your home style? Do you make art at home? Talk to me and tell me what makes you happy!

Spring Blooms and Flowers for Sweethearts

20120407-140548.jpg

With spring here I’ve been craving more color and the sweet smell of flowers. My Dad brought this lovely bouquet of roses to my mom the other day, just because. Those pink blooms are irresistible aren’t they?

And this lovely golden forsythia tempted me into capturing it as it shone in the sun one afternoon a few days ago.

Spring is a time of re-birth and new life. There’s been a lot of loss of loved ones in my family recently and I have to remind myself in the beauty of what is around us every day. It’s not always easy in the face of heartache but the effort is always important. If a flower lightens my heart or brings a smile to someone else then I will remember to grab the opportunity to seize that moment even along side the hard things.

Peace In Your Hearts,

The Sun Keeps Shining!

Yesterday I was driving down the hill to come in to town while a thunderstorm was brewing. The weather here has been unseasonably warm, spring has arrived early, the leaves are coming out on every bush, and the promise of thunder and rain has arrived as well!

But even when the weather threatens to unleash all of it’s built up potential on the city, the sun still has a way of not being forgotten. So pretty a sight that I risked my neck while driving (I know, I know.. but no one was around me on the road!) and I slowed down to snap one lucky shot on my iPhone. What beautiful thing has nature shown you lately?

Keep on Springing!

Moving, What a Load of Beans!

I have been such a busy lady! I want to tell my readers why I had so long a break, especially right after I was gaining momentum. So take a moment, if you will, and find out why life can seem like a delicate flower and should be given proper appreciation when it blooms!

Way back in August a crazy thing happened to me.. I started to go blind.

Read about it and more images after the jump!

A Leaf Bug; Summer Time Back Porch Finds

20110818-024725.jpg

What a beautiful creature this leaf bug is! I couldn’t help but spot it when I was sitting on my back porch, it walked two inches away from my face along the railing and startled me quite a bit! So I wonder what the species of this leaf-like bug is? Anyone know?

Happy Back Porching Everyone!

Edit -=>

Turns out it’s a¬†katydid (sub-family¬†Pseudophyllinae), well how pretty it is.
